Touch As Medicine

Touch is not just sensation. It is communication. It is memory. It is medicine.

Your skin has stories.

Your body holds everything you’ve ever been through—the love, the loss, the longing.

It remembers the touch that felt like home.
It remembers the touch that made you shrink.

At Touch as Medicine, you will:

  • 💫 Rediscover the language of your body through conscious, consensual touch.

  • 💫 Learn how to give and receive in a way that feels safe, sovereign, and deeply connected.

  • 💫 Release the fear, tension, and old imprints stored in your skin.

  • 💫 Experience touch as an act of love, healing, and reverence—not just something you do, but something you become.

Touch is primal. Touch is sacred. Touch is yours to reclaim.

❝ An intimate space to explore boundaries, and make sense of our own needs in an environment that welcomes connection with ourselves and others. It held space to reflect on how we interpret touch, feelings that arise with it and how we can advocate for ourselves and each other with consent and communication.

I was smiling for days, and left proud of myself that I was apart of something that pushed me slightly out of my comfort zone, but felt much better for it, whilst being alongside others who are also on their own journeys. ❞

❝ Joy and Shiva created an extremely wholesome evening of group plutonic caring, explorative touch. They held the space very well, making me feel very safe and comfortable to explore my edges. The music and guidance from Joy was complimented by Shiva's physical guidance and it transcended into a melting puddle of plutonic sensual touch where I felt extreme gratitude and care. It was an amazing evening for me! Thank you Joy & Shiva! ❞

❝ I genuinely think this is what should be taught in schools. If we gave more emphasis on boundaries, and understanding of our right to say no or pull away. As well as our freedom to lean in and offer and receive gentle and loving touch, I honestly believe that our societies would be more healthy and who knows… Maybe we could even eradicate war. ❞

Overview

Join us for an evening of sensual, non-verbal connection through conscious, slow movement to music. In this immersive, guided experience, you’ll explore the healing power of oxytocin—the hormone of trust and bonding—while nourishing your body, mind, and nervous system.

Touch is always optional, and this journey is just as much about learning what it means to touch and be touched with presence, consciousness, and consent as it is about the experience itself. You’ll be invited to reflect on how most of us have experienced touch in the past—often without true presence or mutual agreement—and how transformative it can be to experience touch that is fully consensual and mindful.

Whether you wish to engage in touch or simply explore the energy and space around you, this is an opportunity to heal, relax, and reconnect.

Why Touch Matters

In our fast-paced world, many of us are touch-deprived. Yet, touch is fundamental to our sense of well-being. Conscious, consensual touch has the power to:

  • Calm the nervous system

  • Release tension and stress

  • Promote emotional balance

  • Deepen connection with others

However, most of us have experienced touch without true consent, without presence, or without full awareness—often leaving us feeling disconnected or unsafe. In this meditation, we explore what it means to bring intention and awareness to every interaction, helping you discover how powerful touch can be when approached with clarity, trust, and respect.

Oxytocin, the hormone released during touch, enhances feelings of trust, safety, and comfort—making this meditation a beautiful way to reconnect with yourself and others.

What You’ll Experience

This journey will take you on a sensory exploration, beginning with:

  • Awakening the senses solo meditation to cultivate personal body awareness

  • Simple, guided interactions with others while respecting boundaries

  • Clear guidance on what it means to engage in conscious, present, and consensual touch

  • The opportunity to practice exploring your boundaries and desires non-verbally with confidence

  • Free movement to slow deep music, allowing you to explore touch at your own pace, or choose to stay in your personal space

  • Support to navigate any emotions that arise with compassion and presence

You are always in control of your experience—touch is optional, and you are welcome to engage as little or as much as you like.

Why This Matters for Temple Arts

This workshop offers an essential skill for anyone exploring sacred sexuality spaces or the Temple Arts. Understanding how to touch and be touched with presence and consent is fundamental to creating safe, respectful spaces for deeper connections. By cultivating these skills, you’ll be better prepared to engage in sacred spaces with integrity, clear boundaries, and heightened sensitivity to both your own and others' needs.

Most people have not experienced this level of conscious, present, and consensual touch, making this practice a powerful gateway to the deeper realms of intimacy, healing, and embodiment that the Temple Arts invite.
